SALT LAKE CITY – Utah County-based businesses make up more than one fourth of the fastest growing companies in Utah.
On Tuesday, MountainWest Capital Network announced the 2013 list of the top 100 fastest growing companies in Utah, and Utah County companies such as Vivint, Nu Skin and Kneaders Bakery and Cafe all made the list.
“We congratulate each of the companies in the Utah 100, Emerging Elite and Top Revenue Growth Companies for their tenacious work, entrepreneurial spirit and growth. Utah provides one of the best environments in the U.S. for businesses to succeed and these companies represent the growth engine for Utah jobs,” said Devin Thorpe, president of MWCN.
The highest ranking Utah County company on the list was Provo-based Peak Capital Partners, a business that owns and manages student housing units across the United States.
Peak came in sixth place for the ranking, followed by Lindon-based company The Ready Project, which manufacturers and sells food storage and preparedness products, at eighth place in the state.
“Peak has witnessed remarkable revenue growth,” said Jeff Burningham, founder and managing partner. “Our revenues have more than doubled in the past two years. We recently acquired apartment communities in North Carolina, New Mexico and Colorado. In the coming months, Peak will acquire several additional apartment communities across the country representing more than 3,000 new units and $150 million in additional asset value. To be recognized as one of Utah’s top 10 fastest growing companies is an honor.”
Salt Lake City-based Radiate Media took home the top honors for a second year in a row in the ranking system.
Other Utah County companies on the list include Property Solutions International, located in Lehi; Amara Day Spa Salon and Boutique, from Orem; Provo’s Insidesales.com and Ancestory.com, which is also located in Provo.
The ranking was determined by the percentage of revenue increase from 2008 through 2012.
Utah County companies also received top marks in the largest dollar amount of revenue growth between 2008 and 2012. Nu Skin Enterprises came in second place in this category, behind the Huntsman Corporation. Ancestry.com followed right behind in third place. Vivint came in ninth place.
MountainWest also highlighted the top Emerging Companies in the state. These companies have been in business for less than five years, but more than two. MountainWest identified these companies as the ones that show significant promise for future growth and success. Three Utah County companies made that list. Lindon’s Apiary Fund, Lehi-based Boostability and Jane, also located in Lehi, were mentioned on that up and comers list.
